Yes. When a donor texts a gift to New York Cares using text2give and pays their phone bill, Innogive will send 100 percent of the donation to New York Cares.
A text message sent to the short code 85944 acts as a regular text message to a regular phone number. However, depending on the donor’s plan, message and data rates may apply. Only after a donor has replied to the confirmation message with the word “YES” will the donor’s phone bill be charged an additional $10 for the actual gift.
A donor can text the same keyword to 85944 a maximum of three times per month. This maximum is determined by the carriers.

A donor can retrieve a receipt for their text2give donation by visiting http://www.innogive.org/receipts.html and filling in their information. They can also use their phone bill as a receipt.
No. MobileCause tools are currently only set up in the United States and are working on having international messaging set up.
The nonprofit typically receive text2give donations within 90-120 days. Donations must first be billed by the carriers to the donor. The donor must then pay their phone bill. The carrier will then pay Innogive (MobileCause’s nonprofit partner). And lastly, Innogive will pay the nonprofit.
Once someone opts in to receive additional news, they have subscribed to the nonprofit’s text2broadcast list. The non-profit can then send text messages to the subscribers. To discontinue receiving messages from the nonprofit, reply to 27138 with the word STOP.
MobileCause will have access to donor data in so much that they provide it to New York Cares. As a part of MobileCause’s original agreement with New York Cares, MobileCause will not share, sell, or use for their own purposes a donor’s personal info.
Message and data rates may apply depending on the donor/subscribers mobile phone plan with their carrier. Any additional charge to a donor’s phone bill, will not occur unless confirmed by the donor.
No. Only MobileCause, working under an agreement with New York Cares, and under New York Cares, have access to the donor information (i.e., a cell phone number and donation amount). We will only send messages to supporters who have asked us to send follow up text messages by opting into this program. You can opt-out at any time.
New York Cares can communicate with opt in donors up to 4 times per month via text.
In order to confirm the donation, the donor is sent a text message that they must reply to with the word YES. After the donor has confirmed their donation, a thank you message is sent to verify that the donation was or was not successfully billed to the donor’s phone bill. Also, by donating to New York Cares via text2give a donor is also opting in to receive additional news from New York Cares. If the donor does not want to receive additional news from New York Cares, they can reply to 27138 with the word STOP.
A subscriber can opt-out of receiving updates from New York Cares by replying to 27138 with the word STOP.
In order to confirm a cancelled text2give donation or an opt-out request of a text2broadcast list, the donor/subscriber will receive another message. Other than this message, the donor/subscriber will not receive any more messages unless they send a message to the short code.
To cancel a text2give donation the donor must reply to the confirmation text message with the word STOP. If the donor has already confirmed the donation by replying with the word YES, then the donation will be charged to the donor’s phone bill. To dispute or cancel a donation that has already been billed to the donor’s phone bill, the donor will need to call their carrier.
When a text2give donation has been successfully billed to the donor’s phone bill, the donor will receive a thank you message from 85944. If the donor has not received this thank you message then they may not have the ability to donate using text2give or they did not reply to the confirmation message with the word YES. To further confirm whether or not a text2give donation was successful the donor can also attempt to view their receipt by visiting http://www.innogive.org/receipts.html.
