New York Cares' corporate partners made the holiday season brighter by answering letters from low-income children, teens, and adults through our Winter Wishes for Kids and Families program. Corporate teams showed their commitment to giving everyone a happy holiday by answering 21,944 letters this year — almost 70% of all the Winter Wishes letters we received.
Two teams in particular continued their remarkable support for Winter Wishes. Bank of America, the program's presenting sponsor, answered almost 4,000 letters, while Morgan Stanley answered 3,000 letters for the second year in a row. Thank you and congratulations to all of our corporate supporters who made this year's Winter Wishes program one to remember.
JWT
JWT has been a partner of New York Cares almost since our founding. They created the iconic shivering Statue of Liberty campaign for the New York Cares Coat Drive in 1991 and have been improving the city through annual corporate service projects ever since.
JWT Cares Day was another success this December. More than 350 employee volunteers wrapped gifts for children served by the Salvation Army, explored museums with at-risk children, took children from local elementary schools on ice skating adventures, played educational games with schoolchildren, took care of shelter animals at Animal Care and Control, decorated a NYCHA community center to throw the residents a holiday party, and much more.
JWT volunteers made a huge impact on our city this year. Their continued dedication will brighten the lives of New Yorkers in need for years to come.
BNP Paribas
Our partnership with BNP Paribas began on New York Cares Day 2008, and their involvement has grown tremendously in just a year. They answered Winter Wishes letters, sorted thousands of donated coats at the New York Cares Coat Drive warehouse, and came back full force for New York Cares Day 2009 as a corporate sponsor.
This fall, BNP Paribas volunteers also hosted three financial literacy projects for teens at the High School of Art and Design. They were so successful that they immediately began working with us to plan similar projects for 2010. A special thanks to everyone at BNP Paribas for an outstanding year — we look forward to seeing our partnership grow in years to come.
