When Fred Alger Management, Inc. reached out to New York Cares early in 2008, their newly-formed charitable giving committee, the Alger Candlelight Giving Program, was looking for ways to give back to the community while creating regular volunteer opportunities for Alger employees. By supporting New York Cares and participating in our Customized Corporate Service program, they were able to do just that!
From accompanying a group of senior citizens on a walking tour of Central Park and an ice cream social, to taking 30 ecstatic public school children on an exciting trip to Chelsea Piers for rock climbing and obstacle courses, Alger employees have always shown up in full force, smiling, energetic and ready to make a difference. To top it all off, they provided gifts for 75 children through our Winter Wishes program — including nine brand new bikes!

State Street
For several years, State Street's employees have regularly participated in customized group volunteer projects and New York Cares' annual events, such as Winter Wishes and the Coat Drive. Last fall their volunteer committee decided to go a step further and partnered with New York Cares to create the State Street Season of Service during October and November.
More than 150 State Street employees volunteered on projects spanning multiple program areas. They took a trip to the Museum of Natural History with elementary school children, created care packages for women living at a domestic violence shelter, worked with teens on their resumes and interview skills, and revitalized a school on New York Cares Day.
We thank State Street employees for all they do for New York Cares and New York City — and for making their first annual Season of Service a huge success!
Moody's
The Moody's Foundation has been one of New York Cares' most valued supporters for an incredible 15 years, and Moody's employees have been active volunteers since their first New York Cares Day in 1994. While continuing to participate in each of New York Cares' annual events, Moody's decided last year to strengthen its volunteer program to provide additional volunteer opportunities for its staff.
In just five months, more than 200 Moody's employees have volunteered on seven customized projects ranging from park revitalization to animal care. They have made a tremendous impact across our city while working together and affirming their commitment to their company.
Their dedication reminds us that during these challenging economic times we cannot overlook the needs of our neighbors and our community, and we thank them for all that they do as a partner of New York Cares.
