It was another successful year for New York Cares and Goldman Sachs' Community TeamWorks initiative, a signature volunteer program that allows each employee one day away from work to volunteer. Goldman Sachs engaged more employees than ever this year (500 employees over nine projects) through New York Cares customized projects.
Goldman even donated the supplies from three of their projects to our ongoing children's education and recreation programs, which means their impact will continue for years to come.
DeVries PR
DeVries PR was looking for a different way to spend their usual summer staff outing, so they decided they would build their team by volunteering. We planned five projects for their 100 enthusiastic employees over a single day.
They painted murals in a public school, played interactive games with seniors, took children on a scavenger hunt in the Museum of Natural History, walked shelter dogs, and enjoyed a field day in Central Park with a group of students from P.S. 64. We look forward to making the DeVries PR day of service a longstanding tradition.
American Express
American Express, a longtime New York Cares partner, has always made an impressive commitment to employee volunteering. This year, they beat themselves at their own game by participating in 10 large-scale volunteer projects in the last six months.
AmEx employees painted murals in Harlem, facilitated a job skills workshop for women re-entering the workforce, took children from Pelham Fritz Recreation Center to the American Museum of Natural History, and more.
American Express employees continue to come out in record numbers for our annual days of service, Hands On New York Day and New York Cares Day, where they clean up parks and revitalize public schools. American Express' dedication to volunteering exemplifies the spirit of corporate responsibility.
