50,000 for New York City is New York Cares' year-long initiative to mobilize 50,000 volunteers to strengthen the city.
This commitment is one of the ways New York Cares is supporting Mayor Bloomberg's blueprint for civic engagement, NYC Service.
Last year, we developed and managed volunteer programs for 1,000 nonprofits, city agencies, and schools, mobilizing 43,000 volunteers to help 450,000 of our neighbors in need. Over the coming year, we'll create opportunities for 50,000 New Yorkers to volunteer and serve more than 500,000 people citywide.
