Phil: Site Captain
For the last four years, Phil has played a key role as a Site Captain for New York Cares' annual citywide revitalization events, Hands On New York Day and New York Cares Day. He leads hundreds of volunteers in painting, cleaning, and gardening tasks to spruce up New York City's public spaces and schools. Phil says he chooses painting and revitalization projects because he loves "being hands on and seeing physical results immediately."

My Most Memorable Volunteer Moment:
I was a Site Captain for Hands On New York Day 2006 at Sara Roosevelt Park in lower Manhattan, which was a press site for the event. It was pouring outside, and 30+ people still showed up to mulch in the rain, finishing in record time, all in front of the parks commissioner!
