Kelly: Tax Preparer
In four years as a New York Cares volunteer, Kelly has taken it upon herself to prove her claim that New York Cares has "opportunities for everyone." She enjoys volunteering as a Team Leader for our Income Tax Preparation program in particular. In this role, Kelly has assisted members of New York's underserved communities with filing their taxes and maximizing their refunds, putting money into the hands of those who need it most. After securing a $4,000 tax refund for one woman, Kelly recalls, "her smile and thank-yous made my tax season."
