Kathleen: Page Turner
Kathleen began volunteering shortly after the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks as a way to give her fellow New Yorkers "a respite from their difficulties." But what started as a short-term goal has turned into a long-term passion. For six years, Kathleen led a reading club for formerly homeless women living in transitional shelters. According to Kathleen, few of the women have ever had the chance for their thoughts to be heard. The "surge of confidence" that results is nothing short of life-changing, both for participants and volunteers.
