Photo: NYCD 2008 VolunteersEach year, New York Cares brings 8,000 caring volunteers to over 100 New York City public schools for the city's largest day of volunteer service. Volunteers paint colorful murals, paint classrooms and hallways, brighten up playgrounds, reorganize libraries and storage rooms, and much more.

New York Cares Day 2009 takes place on Saturday, October 17. Volunteer registration will open on Monday, July 13.
