New York Cares is looking for thousands of volunteers to take spring cleaning to a new level. Please join us on Saturday, April 21, from 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., for a day of good, clean fun as we clean, paint and revitalize our city's public spaces, including: parks, gardens, playgrounds, community centers, homeless shelters and schools. More than 3,500 volunteers are needed to help complete hundreds of tasks including; planting flowers and bulbs; raking leaves and edging pathways; removing debris from city parks, gardens, and water fronts; painting colorful murals, outdoor fences, railings and so much more.
By joining us on Saturday, April 21 you will help breathe new life and color into vital spaces that are often under-resourced, yet so important in maintaining a strong, vibrant community. The day will be fun and productive, and when all the hard work is done, you'll be invited to join us as we celebrate our accomplishments at the New York Cares after party.
Hands On New York Day is a great way for individuals and groups to make a difference in just one day and the perfect way to wrap up National Volunteer Week (April 15-21).
With temperatures on the rise, our outdoor Revitalization projects are back on the Calendar. But, did you know that Revitalization covers more than gardening? In addition to traditional parks and gardens projects, New York Cares also works with schools, shelters and other organizations to help them spruce up their community spaces. Sign up for a project today and you can: paint classrooms or murals, assemble furniture, sort books and other donations, or complete many other tasks that our nonprofit partners would struggle to accomplish alone. These 'done-in-a-day' projects are a great way to gain a sense of accomplishment in just a few short hours.
