 |
The theme of this year's National Volunteer Week is "Celebrating People in Action." And no one is more about action than New York Cares and our dedicated volunteers. |
New to New York Cares? Become one of the
50,000 for New York City
To support Mayor Bloomberg's blueprint for increased volunteerism, NYC Service, New York Cares is launching a campaign to mobilize 50,000 New York Cares volunteers to strengthen our city in the coming year.
50,000 for New York City kicks off during National Volunteer Week with New York Cares' largest-ever new volunteer orientation on Tuesday, April 21, in Council Chambers at City Hall and runs through April 2010.
Learn more about the campaign, or sign up for an upcoming new volunteer orientation to get started.
New York Cares Volunteer Projects During National Volunteer Week
No other volunteer organization offers as many ways to make a difference in New York City. Once you have attended an orientation, you can choose from 1,000 volunteer projects a month.
Hands On New York Day: Saturday, April 25
Hands On New York Day is our large spring day of service, where 5,000 volunteers will revitalize 78 parks and community gardens citywide. Register to volunteer at www.handsonnewyorkday.org (orientation is not required). If you can't volunteer on April 25, you can still support the event by making a financial donation to help us make the day possible.
