Thanks to everyone who made Hands On New York Day 2011 such a huge success! It was a cold, rainy spring day, but that didn't stop 4,700 New Yorkers from taking a "hands-on" approach to cleaning and greening the city they call home.
In public sites throughout the five boroughs, volunteers filled 10,400 garbage bags with winter debris, painted 9,305 feet of fencing and transformed 75 of our city's parks, community gardens and green spaces – all to beautify New York City and prepare it for spring.
Check out our Facebook and Twitter for pictures and news from different sites around the city, and share your own experiences and photos.
