Volunteer FAQ's
What is New York Cares Day?
Now in its 18th year, New York Cares Day is New York City's largest hands-on volunteer service day. This year, we'll work with nearly 6,000 volunteers at 90 public schools throughout the five boroughs to paint, garden, engage students, and celebrate our city's schools. New York Cares Day is a critical service day for public schools, and also serves as a fundraiser for New York Cares.
When is New York Cares Day?
Saturday, October 13th from 9:30am - 3:30pm.
Can I volunteer on my own?
Yes! While we encourage people to form teams of family, friends, or co-workers,
individuals are always welcome. You can even join if you're not oriented since orientation is not necessary to participate in New York Cares Day.
How do I register?
To register a team of volunteers, please visit www.newyorkcaresday.org. Team Leaders will be able to select their sites in September.

How does fundraising for New York Cares Day work?
New York Cares Day is similar to a walk-a-thon. Volunteers are asked to pay a $20 registration fee to offset the cost of the day. We also encourage volunteers to ask family, friends, and co-workers to pledge money to support their service. The money you raise supports our year-round programming. All fundraising for New York Cares Day is done through www.newyorkcaresday.org.
